i posted several months back about a book that i knew of that was being released in 2002. it was written by a women who was in the congregation that i grew up in.
she was an elder's wife and i grew up with her daughter who is my age.
the book has been published and released and is on bookstore shelves now.

I have also read Awakening of a JW by Diane Wilson. I'll have to agree with ConnieLynn and say it's an easy read and quite accurate.
I do feel, though, that she had a lot of personal problems connected to the trauma that she went through when she was younger. I believe this added to her frustration with the WTS...so some things she wrote about were a little too exaggerated for me. But, I did enjoy reading it.

I run the reception area for Probation & Parole....always something weird going on, but people neve cease to amaze me! I'm also a victims advocate for domestic violence, and I volunteer at our county's Health Clinic.

I imagine when you have lived at Bethel and then left with a bitter feeling, it's probably like a marriage gone bad...I mean, you must of kept this note for a reason.

she, like me, was raised a jw.
she is a sweet, sincere and wonderful woman.
I speak from experience: There is nothing worse than being married and feeling lonely. I really feel sorry for those that stay in a marriage because they are JW's and "can't divorce". What a waste of life!! If there is no love in the marriage...then it's not a marriage. Your'e basically just roomates...how sad.
There are many great and wonderful people who are not JW's that have wonderful qualaties.

In my opinion, I would stay clear away from them!! They are very similar to the JW's, with almost the same mind control techniques. It's them versus everybody else. Women are perceived as less than man and should only stay home and raise the kids....they shun women from advancing in a career and rather see women as the Betty Crocker's of America. There are very nice people in the LDS church, just like there is in the WTS, but their beliefs are very structured and controlling....please be careful!!

I just moved out of SLC in 1998, and I lived there for about 15 years. I'm sorry to hear your wife is getting involved with the Mormons. They are wacky as they come!! A lot of their views on family and women reminded me of the Witnesses and they also believe they have the "truth"...to put it in shorter terms, there is a lot of mind control there as well! They even get baptized for the dead! Be very careful with that bunch! If you don't mind telling me, what cong. did you go to?

it seems there's a buzz about everybody being bi-polar or on anti-depressants.
it seems a lot of people i know are taking anti-depressents.
the doc said i'm *bi-polar 1* or something like that.
Have you tried looking up some info on the computer? My step-son's mother is severly Bi-polar and I wanted to know more about it...just to keep an eye on my step-son, so I found some info on Bi-polar. You can start by using a search engine, like www.askjeeves.com. My step-son's mom has it pretty bad, though. She's been in and out of hospitals for many years. She looks very worn out, and sways back and forth when she is standing up....this is caused by the medication she takes. I wouldn't be surprised if she has been diagnosed with something else along with Bi-polar. I work in Community Corrections and I have seen many many people with Bi-polar, and they don't look as bad as my step-son's mother. So, I believe with PROPER medication a person can live a pretty normal life.
